Background: First woman jockey to ride and win in Arizona and Colorado, and the fourth woman jockey in U.S. history.

I grew up on thoroughbred farms on the West Coast. My father, Donald Kelly, a retired jockey, managed such prestigious ranches as Newellhurst Farms in Kingston Washington and J.J. Elmore’s thoroughbred ranch in San Clemente, California. I started exercising race horses when I was 10. After 3 years of college, I decided to do what I loved and that was working with horses. So, I headed for the race track. I broke 2-year olds and exercised seasoned thoroughbreds at the Pomona Fairgrounds Training Facility, Santa Anita, and Hollywood Park Race Tracks. As a free lance exercise rider, I rode a wide variety of horses from claimers to stakes horses. During this time, I worked for an excellent thoroughbred trainer, “J. E. Fuller”. Mr. Fuller had 45 years of experience and had started riders like Ray York, Taylor Powell, and many others. Mr. Fuller not only taught me the skills needed to ride races, but he also gave me the necessary experience to train racehorses. During the 7 ½ years I rode races professionally, I competed in over 1500 races at thoroughbred tracks around the country with an in the money percentage of 23%. I have many years of experience breaking, training, and racing horses. So, if you’re looking for someone to get your horses ready to race or for someone to teach you a fulfilling exciting profession, I’m available. You can reach me at (970) 420-8257 or (970) 669-1349.
